Trying to Stay Healthy This Winter? Do These 3 Things to Avoid Colds, Flus, and other Viruses
The cold winter months have become synonymous with cold and flu season. But that doesn't we have to be sick this winner. Instead, try these three tips to stay healthy this winter.
Stay Active: Research has shown that remaining active and exercising keeps the immune system in check and fends off illness. But it can be tough exercising in the cold winter months. Try winter outdoor activities like snowshoeing, skiing, or cross-country. Or put on your favorite workout video and stay indoors. Better yet, place your favor record and have an indoor dance party! Whatever you can do to keep active is key to staying healthy!
Wash Your Hands: We all know keeping our hands clean and germ free also reduces illness. The best way to wash your hands is with warm water and anti-bacterial soap. You should wash your hands for 20-30 seconds to thoroughly keep them clean. Try singing a short song in your head to help with timing. Otherwise, if you can't get your hands on soap, any hand sanitizer will do as the next best option. Just keep those paws clean!
Get Enough Sleep: Sleep is one of the most important recovery methods our body has to fend off illness. During sleep, our bodies can recover from the day, process thoughts, and replenish our system. Without enough sleep our bodies do not get enough time to process full recovery. So make sure to get 7-9 hours of sleep every night. It is also helpful to maintain a consistent schedule throughout the week.
